nce upon a time there was a boy named Wei Long who was very curious about the Great Wall of
China. Wei Long had read many books about the Great Wall. One day, he went to visit the Great
Wall and saw parts of it crumbling. Wei Long got so mad that no one was trying to repair it. So he
got all his friends and wrote a petition to the President of China. The President didn’t believe him and
didn’t do a thing about it.

So he asked his friend Li to help him get signatures from ten thousand people in their hometown. Most of
the people didn’t give their signatures because they didn’t really believe that the Wall was in danger. They only
got seventy-four people to sign. Wei Long and Li were very sad. They needed a plan.
A few days later, Li thought of a brilliant plan. Sky dive and land on the Great Wall of China! Since the
stunt would be on all the TV channels, people would see the Great Wall of China crumbling and will want to
help.
Then Wei Long realized that they don’t have the money to hire a pilot, plane or even parachutes. To raise
money, what could they do?
After a few hours, Wei Long suggested a lemonade stand during the hot summer day. They built it and put it
up together. Then they made fresh lemonade and put the price as ten Yuan. Many people bought a glass of cool
lemonade and soon they had the money they needed.
The next day, they jumped from two thousand feet and landed where the Great Wall was particularly
rundown. All the news cameras were zoomed in on them and the Great Wall. Thousands of people saw the Wall
falling apart and wanted to sign the petition.
Unfortunately even after that the President still didn’t believe it. A few days later the President went there
on his own and met Wei Long and Li and they showed the parts that were breaking away. The President
promised to put aside some money and have it fixed.
Now Wei Long is an adult. Every day he meets his good friend Li at the Great Wall and they walk the Great
Wall together, happy because they know that their country is taking care of its most precious structure.
